Cobán Water Project

When the poor seek water and there is none, I the Lord will hear them.
[Isaiah 41:17]

About The Project
Ten years ago, St. Pat's teamed up with its sister parish, Resurrection Priory in Cobán, Guatemala.  When the relationship began, the communities in Cobán and surrounding villages were asked what their biggest need was.  "Bring us clean water" was the overwhelming response.

We have since worked with developers to discover specific type of water filter known as the Q-Beta filter which has been developed specifically for clean water needs in Guatemala.  The filters consist of two 5-gallon buckets which are connected by candle filters that can turn even rain water into safe drinking water for an entire family.  The two-bucket filters are ideal because they are easy to transport, have replaceable candle filters, and work entirely by gravity so that no electricity is required.

Ten years later, we have raised more than $35,000 and delivered thousands of water filters to communities, but still have about 70% left of our target goal.
